Privacy policy
Updated October 1, 2026
Safe Shuffle plays Apple Music for families, checking each song against the household’s filtering profile before it plays. This page says what that involves, and what it does not.
What Safe Shuffle keeps
- Your Apple sign-in identifier. Sign in with Apple gives Safe Shuffle an identifier unique to this app. Safe Shuffle does not ask for your name or email address, and does not keep them.
- Your household. The name you give it, its filtering profiles and their settings, and which profile each phone uses.
- The caregiver PIN, only as a one-way hash, never the PIN itself.
- Songs your household flagged: the recording’s identifier (ISRC), the reason chosen, and who flagged it.
- Songs a caregiver allowed for a profile: the song’s identifier, title and artist, and who allowed it.
- Sign-in sessions and invite codes, only as one-way hashes.
- Your subscription: Apple’s transaction identifiers, the product, and when it renews or ends. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; Safe Shuffle never sees card details.
What Safe Shuffle does not keep
- What you browse or search. Checking a list of songs records nothing about it.
- Audio. “What’s playing?” listens only when you tap it, for a few seconds, using Apple’s ShazamKit, which turns the sound into a signature on your phone and sends that signature to Apple to identify the song. Safe Shuffle receives only the name of the song, checks it, and keeps nothing — neither the audio nor which song it was.
- Lyrics. Safe Shuffle receives content ratings about songs, never their words.
- Children’s names, ages or contact details.
Who else is involved
- Apple provides sign-in, payments, Apple Music and song identification, under Apple’s own privacy policy.
- LyricFind provides the content ratings. To check a song, Safe Shuffle sends LyricFind its identifier, title and artist — nothing about you or your household.
- Render hosts Safe Shuffle’s server and database in the United States. Like any server, it sees the internet address of each request; Safe Shuffle uses that to limit abuse and keeps it only in short-lived operational logs.
- Vercel hosts this website. It sees the internet address of each visit, as any web host does. The website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from anywhere else.
Safe Shuffle shows no advertising, does no tracking across other apps or websites, and does not sell or share personal information.
Deleting your data
Delete your account in the app, under Household. That removes your account, your sessions and your history. If you set the household up, it removes the household, its profiles and its flags too. Flags added by someone else in a household that continues are kept for that household, without your name on them.
Children
Safe Shuffle is designed for families, with a grown-up setting up the household and choosing what plays. Each phone signs in with its own Apple ID, which for a child is managed by a parent through Apple’s Family Sharing. Safe Shuffle collects nothing about children beyond what is listed above.
